I (Gabriella G.) am the founder of Define Yourself.  I am currently a Junior in high school. I have been involved in Girl Scouts for ten years. The idea of this project started three years old when I had the opportunity to design a project called TLC Bedtime Bags. I assembled over dozens of bedtime bags to help foster children get through their first night in foster care. Through this project, I was able to learn more about foster care, the things these children experience, and how it affects them. I decided to create an event called "Define Yourself" as my Gold Award project.  This event is centered on helping foster teens find their worth and their value in the world. I am very fortunate to have grown up in a loving and supportive home with parents by my side. Unfortunately, many foster teens have a hard time finding support and tools to succeed. I will make it my mission to help my peers receive the resources they need to prosper in their life. Everyone deserves a chance to succeed in this world.  I am excited to launch a program in January, 2021 that can provide support and resources for foster teens all over the state of Florida.

Define Yourself is an all day virtual event created by a Gold Award Girl Scout. It is all about helping teens in care understand their true worth. The hard things in life shouldn't define us and our future. Every teen- no matter what circumstance they were born into- deserves to be empowered. It is our mission to help teens in care today gain the confidence, opportunities, and experience they need to achieve great things in their individual lives.  We push the importance of helping teens find and develop an interest for something. We sincerely believe a passion for something will be a ticket out of their situation and a ticket into success for a lot of these teens.
